Date: 13th May
Today, my parents, my aunts and I took off for a full fledged outing to South Mumbai.
We were in South Mumbai by 10:45 am and we began by going to Marine Drive, which is the soul of Mumbai city.Marine Drive is a 3.6-kilometre-long boulevard in South Mumbai in the city of Mumbai.
We did do a small photoshoot there but I am going to include just the Nature images in this post.
We went on to see Gateway of India which is very well known.
We also went to the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, which is one of the best luxury hotels in India. The Taj Mahal Palace Hotel (Marathi/Hindi: ताजमहल होटल) is a “Heritage Grand” class five-star hotel located in the Colaba region of Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, next to the Gateway of India. Historically it was known as the “Taj Mahal Hotel” or the “Taj Palace Hotel”. or simply “the Taj”.
Part of the Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces, this hotel is considered the flagship property of the group and contains 560 rooms and 44 suites. There are some 1,500 staff including 35 butlers. From a historical and architectural point of view, the two buildings that make up the hotel, the Taj Mahal Palace, and the Tower are two distinct buildings, built at different times and in different architectural designs.
The hotel has hosted many notable guests, from presidents to captains of industry and stars of show business
We then went to a Church which is an old and historical one. Afghani Church or St John The Evangelist Church, in Fort.
Fort (Mumbai precinct)
Mumbai, India. The area was the heart of the city during the 18th century. The area gets its name from the defensive fort, Fort George, built by the British East India Company around Bombay Castle. The area extends from the docks in the east, to Azad Maidan in the west; Victoria Terminus in the north to Kala Ghoda in the south. This area is the heart of the financial area of the city. Institutions such as the Bombay Stock Exchange, Reserve Bank of India and Tata Group headquarters are located in this area.
This was a beautiful place. We got a ton of pictures here. There also were many flowers around, these were the best ones.
We then had lunch at Pizza By The Bay.Absolutely recommend going there, the food was yum. I didn’t click any pictures as wanted to enjoy my food!
Smart, monochrome restaurant with art deco style and a menu of freshly rolled pizzas and sandwiches.
Address: Soona Mahal, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Rd, Churchgate, Mumbai, Maharashtra 400020
We had dessert at Rustom Ice-cream which is one of the oldest and best in Mumbai. It was my first time there and I loved it!
K Rustom’s Ice Cream
Ice Cream Shop
Address: 86, Veer Nariman Road, Churchgate, Mumbai, Maharashtra 400020
It was very very hot today, actually humid. I would suggest wearing light clothes/keeping water/sun screen etc. It also took a fairly good amount of time to get back home, so keep in mind Mumbai’s traffic.
South Mumbai is the heart of our city, if you ever visit, you need to go there. Churchgate/Fort/Haji Ali/ Sea Link are some of the iconic places here.
South Mumbai is filled with beautiful structures made of stone and brick almost everywhere. They were built by the British and to date look amazing. In the suburbs, you won’t get to see anything like that. It is truly the heart of Mumbai and I’m a proud Mumbaikar to say that!
